The rulebook

The rules

The rulebook has a single obsession: never stop the game. There are no free kicks, no cards and no falls. Three rules are enough to understand how a match runs.

A tackle in Poly Strike: a defender slides into the standing leg of an attacker who is winding up his shot and stays on his feet.

Dynamic offside

This is the rule that departs furthest from real football. You can be in an offside position at the moment a team-mate shoots or passes.

Offside is only called if the player is still offside when physically touching the ball. If the attacker slows down, or a defender gets back to cover during the ball’s travel, play continues.

The intended effect is a game of runs: movement pays, and anticipating a pass is no longer punished in advance.

The law of contact

There is no whistle. No conventional fouls, no free kicks, no cards.

The tackle is therefore not a foul but an option. It strikes the opponent’s leg joints to make them buckle and force a loss of the ball — the mechanism is described in the mechanics.

Zero falls. Robots always stay on their feet. After an impact you lose leg precision for a brief moment, never control of your movement. That is what makes it possible to remove fouls without turning the game into chaos.

Penalties

Exclusive to 11v11, they mainly serve to separate two teams. Each attempt is a face-off between an attacker with articulated legs and a goalkeeper with articulated arms.

The attacker feints the direction with the infinite volley. The goalkeeper covers an angle with a charged jump. The duel is decided by reading the opponent, not by a dice roll.

Throw-ins

The system adapts to the pitch so the rhythm never breaks.

In 5v5
The pitch has boundaries but no walls. If the ball goes out, players have two seconds to fetch it. After that the automatic throw-in fires and the ball is instantly sent towards the nearest opponent.
In 11v11
Throw-ins are taken with the foot, futsal style. The player uses the leg control system to aim and pass cleanly to a team-mate.

Both formats are detailed on the game modes page.
